Why I’m Folding a Thousand Cranes

(Derived from here)

There are only a few months to go until May 10, 2010.  I have a vote, I have a blog where I discuss in passing some political issues, but there’s only so much I can do.  The future of this country is in my hands as a citizen, but no matter how principled my vote is, and no matter how much convincing and persuasion I’ll do, the power to have clean, fair, and honest elections come 2010 is beyond my power.

I believe that there’s power in magic and wishes.  I’m too old for birthday cakes, and I’ve long outgrown my beliefs in genies and Santa Claus.  Yet I still believe in the single wish brought by folding one thousand paper cranes.

I am folding a thousand cranes for clean, fair, and honest elections on May 10, 2010.  I make this commitment because I believe in something.

It may not be a worthy cause, and it certainly is not cause for celebration, but I will keep folding cranes.  If only for catharsis, a better view of life, and that the future is not a hope made in vain.

About:

They say that when you fold a thousand paper cranes, a wish comes true.
My wish is for a clean, honest, fair elections in 2010.
That's why I'm trying to fold 1,000 origami cranes in time for May 10, 2010.
This Tumblog contains pictures of the cranes I fold, and some passing thoughts as well.
My name is Marocharim. I blog at The Marocharim Experiment.
